About the client

Clarion Group is a leading manufacturer of cosmetics in India supplying to customers all over the world. Clarion Group has been rapidly growing, since its inception in 1993, using state of the art production facilities. The Group consists of 8 legal entities, located across India at Haridwar, Chennai & Mumbai.

We at RPM currently implemented SAP B1 at “Lotus Beauty Care Products” –(LBCP) located at Haridwar, which is the group’s very large manufacturing company, with a capacity of 15000 MT/annum. LBCP is a major key manufacturer for Hindustan Unilever India, which itself makes World’s best-known brands, in Beauty and Personal care segment.

Challenges

Clarion Group with its size of operations and volume of transactions required a world-class, state-of-art, proven robust ERP solution from a long term perspective.

Why RPM

The main criteria for selection have been, the enabler for operational process efficiency, ease of use, sustained support and ease of monitoring of operational performance. SAP Business One solution, on the HANA platform, fitted well.

Process

We had interactive business workshop sessions in which our team along with the process owners of the respective department discussed their SOP with all the minute details processes. The business Blueprint document was thus prepared and validated by top management. We analysed and mapped the solution. We organized department wise training sessions, of the mapped solution., much before go-live to get user comfort and satisfaction.

Timeline

We had a very tough timeline of 4 months, Both LBCP and RPM worked hard to fulfil the requirement, despite COVID-19 issues, during the main phase of user testing and go-live.

Solutions

  • We mapped various requirement within SAP-B1 by using SAP Standard functionality, also we developed customised Add-ons such as “Stage wise Quality Control “, “Sub-Contracting process” to meet the customer-specific requirements.
  • As a part of the solution, we built in Business Rules, Approval workflows as required by the client.
  • There are around 30 validations developed to ensure the accuracy of business processes.
  • To improve user efficiency in transaction processing, we have automated data capture, using the FMS technique.
  • We developed reports for monitoring operations, for departmental users.
  • For senior management, we enabled KPIs and Dashboards, for a quick overview of the company performance.
  • We also enabled Mobile interface for approval processes.

Results

  • The Master Data of items, customers, vendors, has been cleansed
  • There is transparency and accuracy in-process data , users can quickly access the real-time completely linked data,
  • The QC processes are built at each stage, to provide interlocks in material flows.
  • This, along with MRP runs is helping users to track inventories, meet daily production targets.
  • The further data analysis will help departmental heads in identifying process bottlenecks.

We have implemented SAP Business One at our flagship manufacturing unit through RPM Infotech in a little under 4 months. We appreciate the commitment of the team to withstand challenges and overcome them through sheer perseverance and ensure Go-Live as per schedule even during tough lockdown situation due to Covid-19.
